I finally made the jump over to Hugo for this site. For a long time, I’ve been using my own scripts to edit HTML files, but it was getting unwieldy as the site got bigger. Hugo should help me keep things organized a little better. Everything looks pretty much the same with the exception of a couple of quality-of-life tweaks.
Two things I already like about it:
- I know HTML pretty well, and I can write in HTML pretty fast with my vim setup. But it’s hard to compete with the speed of writing in Markdown.
- Hugo has tagging. That should help make the site easier to navigate, especially since I’m dealing with a pretty broad range of topics. From what I can tell, it actually looks like I have at least two different audiences: one for techy stuff and one for my other writing. This should make it easier for everyone to find exactly what they’re looking for.
